If you have already started your HER application through Enbridge Gas, you may be eligible for additional rebates through the new Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) program which is co delivered with Canada Greener Homes Grant as long as you haven’t completed your post-retrofit energy assessment before Jan. 1, 2023. If you have already started an application through the CGHG program, please speak to your Registered Energy Advisor to discuss which option is best for you. If you’ve already completed your post-retrofit energy assessment you will receive the rebates as discussed by your Registered Energy Advisor at your post-retrofit assessment.

About the program
Enbridge Gas offers a range of energy conservation programs that help Ontarians save energy and money. By teaming up with NRCan to co-deliver the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG), we’re able to help reduce your energy use. We’re not only doing our part in the fight against climate change by helping homeowners reduce their energy costs, but also helping them make their homes more comfortable.
All Canadian homeowners are eligible for the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) program as long as they own and reside in their home.
All Ontario residents are eligible for the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) program regardless of fuel type. Additional rebates from Enbridge Gas are available to Enbridge Gas customers, this includes rebates to homeowners who do not occupy their homes. Rebate levels vary based on eligibility criteria.

How the program works
Grant funding through the CGHG is being offered across the country to all eligible Canadians. The co-delivery of this program through the HER+ in Ontario will allow eligible homeowners to access the benefits of both programs through a single application. This will minimize the amount of work required by homeowners and their Registered Energy Advisors and allow homeowners to access all grant funding available to them through both the federal and Enbridge Gas programs.
No, this program is designed to provide custom advice and recommendations on your upgrades, so you must complete a pre-retrofit energy assessment before starting any renovation work. Any upgrades that have been completed prior to the pre-retrofit energy assessment are not eligible to apply for Home Efficiency Rebate Plus or the Canada Greener Homes Grant.
While homeowners are responsible for covering the upfront cost of the pre-retrofit and post-retrofit energy assessments, these costs will be off-set by a single rebate of up to $600, once you complete the program. You must complete at least one recommended and eligible retrofit to receive the rebate for the assessment costs.
You should receive your rebate cheque approximately 16 weeks after your Registered Energy Advisor submits your application. Make sure you’ve provided your Registered Energy Advisor with the best address to send your cheque to, so it arrives as soon as possible.
Neither Enbridge Gas nor Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) solicits participation in the HER+ program through telephone calls or door-to-door visits.
Our registered Energy Advisors will only come to your door when an appointment has been initiated and booked by you for an energy assessment for the HER+ program. The Government of Canada, NRCan and its family of brands (ENERGY STAR, EnerGuide) never solicit over the telephone or go door-to-door asking to enter Canadians’ homes to inspect, sell, or rent heating and cooling products. EnerGuide home energy evaluations are performed by licensed service organizations only at the request of homeowners.
