In a form of rebates, grant or low to zero interest loan schemes, home owners (buyers and seller or residence) can receive incentives and support for energy-efficiency related upgrades in their process of retrofit/renovations. To find incentives in Ontario are check out the sections below.
Numerous incentives are available to help you pay for your home’s energy-saving upgrades.
Get rebates of up to $5,000 for home energy assessments, insulation, air sealing, new windows and doors, water heaters, boilers, and Heating/cooling system upgrades.
A material that slows or stops the transmission of heat is insulation. It helps to keep heat inside the house in the winter and outside in the summer. Insulation product’s performance differs according to how well it resists heat flow known as its R value.
Attic insulation: A well-insulated attic prevents air and money from escaping through your roof.
Basement/crawl space/floors insulation: Insulating your basement/crawl space can keep rooms above more comfortable and prevent moisture damage.
Wall insulation: Without properly insulated walls, outside air can seep in and out, wasting valuable energy dollars.
Sealing cracks in walls, doors and windows can save money by preventing energy from escaping.
High efficiency pays. There are many reasons why high-efficiency and energySTAR equipment worth the money.
Water heater: Water heating accounts for the second largest energy use in your home, so it’s worth the upgrade to a Hot Water Heat Pump.
heating/cooling devices: Air or Ground Source Heat Pumps are high efficient deviced to use as a heating/cooling equipment for your home.
Energy-efficient windows, skylights and doors can prevent condensation and eliminate drafts.
After you are considered eligible for the program of your desire, there are generally 5 steps for this programs. Please contact us if you are not sure if you’re considered eligible.
1- Book an energy audit/assessment:
Prior to beginning any work, you must complete a home energy assessment with a certified energy expert.
2- Receive a personalized report with upgrading suggestions:
Your registered energy adviser will give you a report with a list of recommendations for renovations to assist reduce energy consumption and make your home more comfortable following your home energy evaluation.
3- Perform a minimum of needed upgrades:
You will receive additional bonus incentives for each additional upgrade you install. You need to finish a number of upgrades in order to be eligible for the rebate and bonuses.
4- Schedule a follow-up energy assessment:
To be eligible for rebates, you must complete a final home energy evaluation. The follow-up appointment must be scheduled Within 18 months of your fist one.
5- Get your rebate check:
Additionally, programs pay you $600 for your energy audits and some additional costs (check program items). This will be covered by your last check.
